Helen Hahn
Helen graduated from Mason High School in 1953 and attended Texas Lutheran College for a short period before returning home. She and Oliver Hahn from Doss were married on August 29, 1954. She and Ollie moved to Las Cruces, NM, in 1957 where he was employed at White Sands Missile Range, and she became a mother and homemaker. They returned to their familial roots in Mason in 1985 upon Ollie’s retirement.
Helen is survived by three children; her son Mark Hahn and his wife Dawn of Mason; her daughter Rhea and her husband Sam Hill of Lubbock; and her son Paul Hahn of Burnet. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Kayla (Hahn) Olson and husband Andrew; Lori (Hahn) Holubec and husband Cody; and Cameron Melcher and wife Becky. Helen is also the proud great-grandmother ____________________________ dren - James Olson, Otto Holubec, Olive Holubec, John Melcher and Charley Melcher.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sisters, her brother Homer Geistweidt, her ‘Aunt’ Alice Doyal, and her beloved husband Oliver.
Helen enjoyed being a wife for 36 years, a mother, and a true friend to all. She will be best remembered for her unfailing service to her Lord and church as well as her thoughtfulness to her family and friends. Her family would like to say a special Thank You to her caregivers at Arbor House (Celeste Care), from Methodist Hospice, and especially her extended family of both Hahns and Geistweidts.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church with interment that followed in the Old Gooch Cemetery. The pallbearers were Andrew Olson, Cody Holubec, Hunter Geistweidt and Matt Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers include Gene Geistweidt, Joe D. Geistweidt, Judy (Geistweidt) Lehmberg, and John Dittmar.
Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
