Alexander Todasco
Alexander Todasco

A proud Canadian, Alex graduated from Montreal High School where he played multiple positions on the football team and enjoyed climbing, yes climbing, the mountains in the Laurentians to ski the untouched powder to the base. He then embarked on an adventurous career that would take him far and wide. His journey led him to Vancouver, where he helped his father open the Chilco Grill Restaurant. That accomplished, he worked on cruise ships in the Alaskan corridor. Then to the Medina Country Club where he was head Maître D and then to honorable service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his military commitment, Alex pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. It was here that he met the true love of his life, Ruth Althea Omega Taylor, and the two were united in marriage in 1956 in Seattle, Washington.
For over three decades, Alex dedicated his professional life to the field of Petroleum Engineering, making significant contributions with Standard Oil of Indiana, which evolved into British Petroleum (B.P). His career spanned several continents, with notable postings in Fort Worth, TX, Chicago (3 times), Tehran, London, and Tulsa, OK. Through all the travel, Alex and Ruth had one true homebase in Georgeville, Quebec, Canada where the family called home. The Cabin, where we could all reunite and enjoy the peace and tranquility of a small village with our dearest friends. After his retirement, he and Ruth moved to Los Angeles, California and for the following three decades he fully supported Ruth’s commitment to support Global Women’s Rights. They traveled around the world with Ruth doing the lobbying and Alex documenting and videotaping every meeting, event, and protest. Their love for one another was truly magic. Following Ruth’s passing, Alex relocated to Central Texas to be closer to his beloved son, Paul, and his Grandchildren, Zailyn and Zachary who he truly cherished.
Beyond his illustrious career, Alex found joy in maintaining an active lifestyle, enjoying supporting Ruth and her causes, Tai Chi, golf, and tennis. He cherished participation in intellectual pursuits, including reading and solving puzzles, which kept his mind as sharp as his competitive spirit. Alex is lovingly remembered and survived by his son, Paul Todasco, and his wife Joni; his dear sister, Barbara Todasco Fields, and her husband Pepper; two adoring grandchildren, Zachary Taylor Todasco and Zailyn Ruth Todasco Larsen; and a multitude of loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice that reflects Alex’s passions, bringing joy to others in his memory.
May his spirit shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched, and may we carry his legacy forward with love and gratitude. He was a very happy man who lived an amazing 96 years of life, always with a smile.
