Alice Ruth Allen

Alice Ruth Allen As I sit here rocking, thinking, remembering, about my life, about my memories. I find life is about my memories. I find life is about making some things happen, not waiting for something to happen.” Alice Ruth Allen was born on December 14, 1933, to Richard and Jimmie Shearer Carpenter at Yates Crossing on the Llano River in London, Texas. She married the love of her life Warner Daniel “WD, Bud” Allen, they lived a very busy life. Memories all tied up with living, lots of living, working together, playing together, hunting together, fishing together, watching TV together and reading the bible together. Parented their three daughters, Danny Karen, Sherry and Beverly. They spent 55 years together living their lives. Ruth said that “when I get to heaven, we will live together a lot longer than 55 years. “There but for the grace of God, go I. It is by the grace of God; I sit here rocking.”
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lehmberg, of Mason, daughter Beverly Williams, of Brady and sonin- law Danny Lee McCleery of San Angelo. She was affectionately known as “Gran” to Patric McCleery (Joan,) Lex Lehmberg (Christie), Cody Williams, Otto Lehmberg (Erin,) Aaron McCleery (Freya) and Ashley Osbourn (Collin.) She was the great grandmother to Katy Mc-Cleery, Travis and Aislin Mc-Cleery, Della Ray Osbourn, Zalen Lehmberg and Lydia and Anna Lehmberg. She is survived by sister Barbara Stewart and brother Sunny Carpenter and brother Jay Carpenter (Elaine) and brother Roy Carpenter (Cheryl,) as well as special friends Carma Halfmann and Paul Miller. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was a friend to many, and her family and friends will miss her devotionals on social media.
Ruth was best known for her kind heart. She will be remembered for her Christian devotionals she posted on social media. “As I sit here rocking, thinking and remembering. I think of the word “if.” Such a little word. Used so often. If 1 had passed that football to the other player, we would have had a touchdown. If I had given that another thought If only, I wonder how many times I have said, “if’ only in all my years. The little word “if,” you would think a word used so much would have some power, but it does not. It’s just a little word. The truth is that the word “if’ is the biggest little word in the English language. At the end of the age, I think we will hear many people who will say “if’ only I had listened to my friend telling me the most important thing in my life was a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Maybe “if’ is an important word after all. “If’ only all believers would tell someone the most important thing in life is our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. What “if’ that would change our world.”
Ruth was a homemaker, treasured family life, and hunting and fishing. She passed along these traditions to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She taught her family the importance of living a Christian based life. At home she loved to read, loved to crochet and embroidery items for family and friends. She was always embroidering and making something to share from scarves, bunnies and jackets, anything to keep her busy.
Her last post the day before her death “As I sit rocking, thinking and remembering. I think all the old folks that made my growing up so wonderful have all gone on and left me. All my aunts and uncles that I loved to listen to, large families are so much I miss them, they were all followers of Jesus Christ so will be waiting for me to get to heaven to visit them again. And I say - God Bless us everyone.”
While we miss her here on Earth, she was ready. Let us all strive to be more Christlike and not let the worries and stresses of life get in the way of our destination.
Waiting for Ruth at heavens gates for her were her parents, Richard and Jimmie Carpenter, husband Warner Daniel “WD, Bud,” brother Richard Carpenter, brother Billy Carpenter and daughter Danny Karen McCleery and son-in-law Paul Lehmberg.
