Jo Ella Eckert

Jo Ella Eckert

Jo Ella Eckert was carried home by her Heavenly Father at the age of 73 on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Jo Ella was born on April 28, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas. She was adopted as an infant and joined her loving parents Samuel and Ethyl Lehmberg Eckert and her brother Allen Eckert in Mason, Texas.

Jo Ella grew up in Mason and spent most of her life there. A few of her favorite childhood memories included Eckert and Lehmberg reunions, spending time with her Aunt Lilly, and running around their family ranches.

Jo Ella was very proud of and truly loved her family. She was sure to tell everyone she had six children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She even made sure to hang a stocking for each one of them at Christmas. Jo Ella loved to cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. She would make sure everyone had their favorite dish or dessert at every family gathering. A few people Jo Ella held closest to her heart include LouDell Eudaly, Denise “De-De” Weekly, Sherrie Tastch, and Joel Williams. She genuinely enjoyed helping and touching the lives of countless others, and truly cherished her pets Sugar (parrot), Suzie Q (dog), Cookie Lou (cat), and Hot Shot (cat). When spending any amount of time with Jo Ella, whether it be in passing at the grocery store or hours at Thanksgiving dinner, everyone around knew exactly what was on her mind.

A memorial service for Jo Ella Eckert will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the River of Life Church Gymnasium with Pastor JD Sanders officiating. A private burial will be held at Gooch Cemetery following the services.
