Teena was born July 26, 1951, in Brady, Texas, to Billy Hughes and Mary Helen (West) Hughes.

She grew up in Brady and graduated from Brady High School in 1970.

She married Dale Scott on March 5, 1999, in Brady. She worked as a teller for Brady National Bank for 22 years, retiring in 2001. From 2001 to the present, she and Dale operated Dale Scott Plumbing.

She was very family oriented and was “the glue that kept everything together” in her family. She was a member of the Brady Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of the Brady community.

A Memorial service for Helen Christine “Teena” Scott was held Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Brady Methodist Church with Reverend Sheldon Johnson officiating. The family received friends Friday evening at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Teena is survived by her husband Dale Scott of Pontotoc; son Cary McBee and fiancé Brandy of Bastrop; daughters Kilee Owens of San Angelo, and Katelin Lucas and husband Shawn of Midland; grandchildren Aaron McBee, Carson McBee, Jacey Owens, Presleigh McBee, Jexlan Wright, Christian Lucas, Elianna Lucas and Chloe Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ty McBee and brother Joe Hughes.
