Robert Feuerbacher was born February 7, 1934, at San Antonio, Texas to parents Henry Feuerbacher and Elva Barnes Feuerbacher. He went to school at San Antonio Vocational and Technical School as part of the San Antonio Independent School District where he obtained his plumbing trade diploma in June 1954. He married Donna Faye McElroy on December 28, 1961. They celebrated 59 years together. He worked as a Licensed Plumber for Hamilton Plumbing Co. for 35 years, where he trained and mentored numerous apprentices. He always made his own fun and challenged his coworkers to productivity races when plumbing new homes. He always won due to his knowledge, skill, will, and efficiency tips and tricks. He “plumbed” San Antonio. In his retirement years, he also worked parttime with Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas, where he was considered family.
He was known for so many things, but especially for his ginger snap cookies for which he freely shared his recipe but not necessarily all the secrets, his homemade yeast rolls, his fishing skills, his love for Ham Radio, his humor, his work ethic, his heart for teaching others useful skills, his kind and gentle nature, his Lifesaver candy giving spirit, and his singing voice. He loved God, family, friends, and acapella singing. Vacations were family visits and reunions. He was a song leader at South San Church of Christ, Harlandale Church of Christ, and Highland Lakes Church of Christ. When he visited other congregations, his powerful tenor voice rang out and was always appreciated by those in attendance.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Faye Feuerbacher, mother, Elva Barnes Feuerbacher, father, Henry Feuerbacher, brothers-in-law Clifford McElroy, Irvin McElroy, Glenn Holveck, niece Carolyn McElroy, and nephew Kirby McElroy.
Robert is survived by his three children Nancy Starling (spouse William), Lee Feuerbacher, Joyce Altgelt (spouse Hunter), his brother Charles Feuerbacher (spouse Katherine), grandchildren, Cawley Starling (spouse Julie), Austin Starling, and great-granddaughter, Sloane Starling. He is also survived by his in-laws, Lawanda McElroy, Betty Lou McElroy, Peggy Holveck, Ronnie and Mary Carroll, Tommy and Sherlyn McElroy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
