The Blanco softball team captured the district championship last Thursday with a 16-1 win over Comfort.
The Lady Panthers also defeated Comfort 16-4 on April 14. Blanco finished the district season with a 10-0 record. Overall, the team is 23-2 with a 20-game winning streak.
Morgan Clark pitched the three-inning run-rule win Monday. Clark had two strikeouts and allowed five hits while facing 15 batters.
The Lady Panthers were on fire at the plate. Kynlee Hernandez was three-forthree with two singles and a grand slam. Hernandez had four RBI and scored three runs. Landry Meyer hit a grand slam and had four RBI, three runs scored and two walks. Celeste Ledesma went two-for-two with two home runs, three RBI, four runs scored and two walks. Maddie Lopez hit a double and scored. Lopez had two walks. Kaylee Romero hit three-for-three with two singles, a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Candice Lopez hit a double and had two runs scored, one RBI and was hit-by-pitch. Kinley Boyd had a single, one RBI, one walk and one run scored. Madison Hunter hit a single and had one walk and one run scored. Mariah Newsome was hit-by-pitch and scored one run.
Clark pitched in the four-inning win Thursday. She struck out four and gave up just one hit.
Hernandez hit a single and walked three times as she scored three runs. Maddie Lopez hit two singles, walked and was hit by a pitch. Meyer hit a single and had one RBI, a walk, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs. Newsome hit a single, walked, was hit-by-pitch, had four RBI and scored two runs. Romero hit two singles and had three RBI and two runs scored. Ledesma hit a double with two RBI and two runs scored. Candice Lopez had a single and two RBI. Boyd hit a single. Avery Flack had two RBI.
Blanco plays the Clyde Lady Bulldogs in the bi-district round of the UIL 3A Division 1 playoffs this week. Game one is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Stephenville High School. Game two of the best-of-three series, also at SHS, is Saturday at noon. Game three, if necessary, is Saturday at 2 p.m.
