Donovan Hector and Carlos Perez competed at the Texas High School Powerlifting State Championship Meet Friday, March 21 at the Abilene Convention Center.
Perez placed ninth of 23 lifters in his weight class with a total lift of 1,050 pounds. He squatted 410 pounds, bench pressed 230 pounds and deadlifted 410 pounds. His squat lift has improved from 345 pounds in January to 410, an increase of 65 pounds in three months. His bench press has been consistent throughout the season. Perez’s deadlift improved from 365 pounds to 410, an increase of 45 pounds over the season. His total lift was 940 pounds in January with a total of 1,050 at state, with a season increase of 110 pounds overall.
Hector placed 11th of 24 lifters in his weight class with a total lift of 1,570 pounds. He squatted 615 pounds, bench pressed 455 pounds and deadlifted 500 pounds. His squat lift has improved from 580 pounds at a meet in January to 615, a personal record and an increase of 35 pounds in the season. His bench press improved from 395 pounds in January to 455 at state for an increase of 60 pounds over the season. Hector’s deadlift was consistent throughout the season. His total lift was 1,475 pounds in January with a total of 1,570 at state, for a season increase of 95 pounds overall.
