City of Llano Replaces Water Retention Boards on Dam

Early this week, City of Llano crews could be spotted replacing the holding boards on the Llano River Dam. Stage 1 water restrictions went into place on March 1st, prompting the city to replace the boards that washed away during heavy rains last July, hoping to shore up the water supply as we head into what looks to be a hot and dry summer. You may recall the tree that had washed up on the bridge in October, which was removed by a crew of local citizens a few weeks ago. At that time, the Mayor said that the city's hands were tied in removing the tree due to state regulations of the river bed. Josh Becker, Director of Water and Wastewater Operations for the city, told the News on Wednesday morning that they would have had to remove the tree before replacing the boards, had it not been done already. 'We would have had to spend several more hours hauling out every part of the tree,' he said. 'We did have to move the trunk, which was secured near our access dock to the river.'
