Every livestock exhibitor sets off to the stock show with hopes of placing his or her market animal high enough to secure a sale slot. The icing on the cake is procuring a champion banner and possibly a scholarship. The same is true in the breeding stock arena. Breeding stock rarely sells during a stock show, but banners and scholarships are coveted prizes.

Mason 4-H’ers travel the state to exhibit their projects. Recently, several achieved their goal at the San Antonio Livestock Show & Rodeo.

Jarrett Worrell bannered with his Reserve Champion Polled Hereford Heifer.
Sophie Ahlschwede achieved third place with her Shorthorn steer, which assured her a brand and sale spot.
Keagan Potter won Reserve Champion Southdown Ram in the open show and Kaleb Potter placed first in the Junior Southdown Yearling Ewe class. He also had the Open Champion Dorper Ewe as well as the open show Champion Southdown Ram.
Cuatro Beaty secured a sale spot with his Finewool market lamb at the San Antonio Livestock Show. Pictured (L-R): Mandy Beaty, Cuatro Beaty, William Beaty III
Dalla Osbourn secured a brand and sale slot with her second place lightweight Hereford steer. (L-R): Collin Osbourn, Della Osbourn, Ashley Osbourn
