Two candidates have filed for mayor while seven will run for two city council seats in the May municipal election for the City of Blanco.
Candy Cargill, who is currently on the city council, and Jim Reed are the two candidates for mayor. Mike Arnold, who has served as mayor since May 2023, did not file for re-election.
The seven candidates for Blanco City Council include one candidate running for re-election and one previous council member. Laura Swinson, who is currently on the council, did not file for re-election. She has been on the city council since May 2023.
The seven candidates include Ryan Moses, who is a current council member and filed for re-election. He has been a city council member since May 2023. Former city council member Rodney Thrailkill, who was a council member from 2022-2024, also filed for election. Other candidates are William Depew, Richard Ketay, David Behrends Jr., Greg Vest and Wesley Murrah. The deadline to file for office was 5 p.m. last Friday.
A drawing for a place on the ballot will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 20. The last day to register to vote in this election is April 3. Early voting begins April 22 and election day is May 3.
