5 Blanco powerlifters win at Brady meet

Blanco’s powerlifting teams had a strong showing at the Brady meet last Thursday.

The Lady Panthers captured third place as a team and had individuals place first, second and third. The Panthers had three lifters place and they all took first place in their respective divisions.

Venessa Barrera won first place in her division with a total lift of 730 pounds. She lifted 280 pounds on squat, 170 pounds on bench press and 280 pounds on deadlift. Kylie Ridner took first place in her division with a total lift of 665 pounds. Ridner lifted 275 pounds on squat, 145 pounds on bench press and 245 pounds on deadlift.

Jennifer Arteaga placed second in her division with a total lift of 620 pounds. Arteaga lifted 220 pounds on squat, 135 pounds on bench press and 265 pounds on deadlift. Addie Stevenson took third place in her division with a total lift of 490 pounds. She lifted 205 pounds on squat, 95 pounds on bench press and 190 pounds on deadlift. Isabella Carbo placed third in her division with a total lift of 465 pounds. She lifted 190 pounds on squat, 65 pounds on bench press and 210 pounds on deadlift.

Barrera, Ridner, Arteaga, Stevenson and Carbo have each qualified for the regional powerlifting meet March 1 at Dublin High School.

Carlos Perez won first place in his weight class with a total lift of 1040 pounds. Perez lifted 405 pounds on squat, 250 pounds on bench press and 385 pounds on deadlift. With these totals, Perez received “Most Outstanding Lifter” in the light divisions.

Donovan Hector won first place in his division with a total lift of 1,535 pounds. Hector lifted 605 pounds on squat, 420 pounds on bench press and 510 pounds on deadlift. Roger Barrera took first place in his division with a total lift of 1,340 pounds. He lifted 560 pounds on squat, 325 pounds on bench press and 455 pounds on deadlift.

The qualifiers for the boys regional powerlifting meet, which will be held March 8 at West High School, will be announced next week.
