Lady Panthers topple Florence, fall to Llano in district games

Blanco tallied a District 5-3A win against the Florence last Tuesday, then dropped a game to Llano on Friday.

The Lady Panthers topped the Lady Buffalo 49-17 in the first of two district games last week, then dropped a 41-19 decision to the Lady Jackets. The Lady Panthers are 4-22 overall and 2-3 in district games. Llano leads the district with a 5-0 record. Ingram is 4-1 and Brady is 3-2. Comfort is 1-4 and Florence is 0-5.

Against Florence, the Lady Panthers led 26-0 at the half. Kaylee Romero was the high-point scorer with 14 points. Gretschen Grosch scored 11 points, while Ava Silva sank nine points. Ashton Uballe scored five points. Kinley Boyd, Payton Craft and Caroline Seymour each added three points. Carleigh Dotson scored one point.

Grosch had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Craft grabbed 10 rebounds and Silva had nine. Silva led the team with three assists. Seymour and Dotson each had two assists. Romero, Uballe and Craft each made one assist. Uballe snagged seven steals and Dotson made five steals. Romero added four steals. Grosch and Uballe each blocked two shots. Craft blocked one shot.

The Lady Jackets led 1915 at the half during Friday’s game. Llano had a big third quarter as it outscored Blanco 16-2.

Romero led the Lady Panthers with 12 points. Boyd scored four and Uballe added two points. Craft sank one point. Boyd made eight rebounds. Dotson had six rebounds and Romero made four. Boyd, Craft and Dotson each made one assist. Romero snagged six steals. Uballe had four and Dotson added two steals. Silva and Craft each blocked one shot.

The Blanco junior varsity team also went 1-1 on the week. The Lady Panthers lost to Florence at the buzzer last Tuesday, 24-23. Chloe Evert led the team with eight points. Allie Logan scored six points and Kamryn Gaskamp sank four points. Bailey Smith scored three and Alice Sorrell added two points.

The Lady Panther JV team defeated Llano 24-19. Evert led the Lady Panthers with eight points. Chloe Green and Logan each scored six points. Perla Galvan scored four points.

With the potential of icy roads in the Hill Country, Tuesday’s games are rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Ingram. Only varsity games will be played with the girls scheduled for 5 p.m. and the boys set for 6:15 p.m. Blanco travels to Comfort Friday and then hosts Brady on Jan. 28.
