“We are investing in the future of our community,” said Chairman and CEO of Mason Bank Thom Canfield of the $200,000 gift toward the Frontera Healthcare Network renovation of the historic Mason Clinic. “For generations, the people of Mason have relied on the services provided by doctors and nurses at the Mason Clinic. We are paying it forward for future generations,” Canfield said.
The Network has a fundraising target of $2,103,490 to preserve the historic character of the Clinic while creating a state-of-the-art rural medical facility.
Frontera’s Mason Clinic, a 501(c)3 nonprofit and Community Health Center, has been a cornerstone of healthcare in Mason, since its founding in 2008. With five clinic sites in Mason, Brady, Fredericksburg, Junction, and Menard, Frontera provides comprehensive medical and behavioral health services, as well as a pharmacy. In 2024, Frontera was honored as a Health Center Quality Leader - Silver, ranking among the top 20% of health centers nationwide. Frontera is dedicated to serving all patients, offering sliding-scale discounts to ensure accessible and affordable care.
The Mason Clinic operates out of the historic Mason Hospital Building, which has served the community since 1947. After assuming ownership of the building in 2023, Frontera continues to uphold its legacy of compassionate care. Recognizing the need for modern facilities, Frontera has launched a comprehensive renovation project to update and enhance the clinic while preserving its historic charm.
Renovation Highlights:
• Modernization of waiting areas, medical exam rooms, behavioral health rooms, the front desk, nurses’ station, and restrooms.
• Upgraded electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and heating systems.
• Installation of a new, leak-proof membrane roof and an improved HVAC system.
• Enhancements to ensure ADA compliance for accessibility.
• Exterior updates, including a resurfaced parking lot, fresh paint, and style upgrades blending modern touches with the building’s historic character.
• Restoration of previously unusable rooms to create additional space for medical and behavioral health providers.
These improvements will allow Frontera to expand its services, bring more specialty providers to the Mason Clinic, and create quality jobs that contribute to the local economy. Additionally, the renovation will preserve the building’s historic elements, such as the original doors, dedication plaques, and the historic operating room, ensuring its legacy endures for future generations.
Call to Action: Frontera has already secured $1,146,476 towards the Mason Clinic Renovation Project and has an additional $200,000 in donor pledges. To complete the $2,103,490 renovation, Frontera is seeking support to raise the remaining $757,014.
