Residents of the Hill Country should prepare for a dramatic shift in weather as a sharp cold front sweeps into the area, bringing freezing temperatures and the potential for winter storms over the next week.

Friday will start off mild with cloudy skies and a chance of scattered morning showers. Afternoon winds will pick up, but temperatures will remain relatively warm with a high near 69°F before dropping to 40°F overnight.

By Saturday, cooler air will settle in, bringing clear skies but noticeably colder temperatures. The high will only reach 56°F, followed by a sharp drop to 25°F overnight.

The cold snap intensifies on Sunday, with highs struggling to reach 42°F and nighttime lows plunging to 18°F. Residents are advised to protect exposed pipes and bring pets indoors.

The coldest air of the season is expected on Monday. Cloudy skies and a high of just 32°F could bring icy or even snowy conditions, especially with overnight lows near 20°F. Weather models are monitoring the potential for a winter storm that could impact the area early next week.

Tuesday will remain frigid despite sunny skies, with highs around 33°F and lows dipping again to 18°F.

By Wednesday, temperatures will slowly rise, but it will still be cold and mostly cloudy, with highs near 46°F and lows around 31°F.

Thursday offers little relief, with overcast skies and a slight chance of light rain. Highs will reach 53°F before falling back to 25°F overnight.

Local officials are urging residents to take necessary precautions ahead of the extreme cold, advising everyone to stay updated on the forecast and prepare for freezing temperatures. Now is the time to protect your homes, livestock, and loved ones.

Drivers are also warned to be cautious of possible icy roads early next week. Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops.
