Frosty Fun Fest Brings Snow to The Science Mill
Guests can revel in 28 tons of real snow at the Science Mill’s “Frosty Fun Fest” Snow Day on January 18.

The Science Mill is bringing in 28 TONS OF REAL SNOW for a flurry of fun science activities that include a mini sled derby, a snowball slingshot, the Fros-TEE Challenge, warm treats, and frosty science demonstrations, from 10 a.m. to 2 p,m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at 101 South Lady Bird Lane in Johnson City.

Snow Pit (all day) DIY Snow (10a.m. and noon)

Spaghetti Engineering Challenge (11am and 1pm) Liquid Nitrogen (10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.) Demonstrating the chemical properties of a super icy substance as everyday objects are exposed to liquid nitrogen at -321 degrees F.

Vortex Cannon (12:30 p.m., with Frosty Bubbles) - A cannon creates toroidal vortices as educators explain how even the smallest particles and molecules in the air experience the physics of friction Frosty Bubbles (12:30 p.m., with Vortex Cannon) In this demonstration, guests will learn about sublimation Fros-Tee Challenge (11a.m., noon, and 1p.m.)

Snowball Slingshot Guests will use a mounted slingshot to launch snowballs to hit hanging hula-hoop targets

Mini Sled Derby - Design and build a custom mini sled derby to test against others Complete schedule and detailed listing at www.sciencemill. org.

Food vendors will be on hand for a variety of refreshment: Kona Ice - Snow cones and cocoa Myra Taco Shack - Mexican food and Tacos Johnson City Coffee Co. - Packaged sandwiches and wraps and coffee Hot Dog King - Hot dogs and other quick bites Masshole Foodtruck Lobster Rolls Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.sciencemill. org under Upcoming Events.

Regular admission applies. Walk-ins welcome. A limited number of VIP Packages available online.

The museum’s regular exhibits and gift shop will be open all day.
