The Blanco girls basketball team began its District 5-3A schedule Friday, Jan. 3 with a three-point loss to the Ingram Lady Warriors, 37-34. Blanco led 15-11 at the end of the first half, but couldn’t hold off a 15-point third quarter surge by Ingram. Blanco is 2-20 overall.
Kaylee Romero was Blanco’s high-point scorer with nine. Ava Silva scored eight points, while Ashton Uballe and Kinley Boyd each sank six points. Carleigh Dotson scored four and Gretschen Grosch sank one point. Romero had four rebounds and three assists. Uballe grabbed 10 steals. Payton Craft, Grosch and Dotson each blocked one shot.
The Blanco junior varsity team defeated Ingram 36-29. Chloe Evert led the team with 13 points. Kamryn Gaskamp scored 11 points. Bailey Smith, Perla Galvan, Autumn Seltzer, Alice Sorrell and Chloe Green each scored two points.
The Lady Panthers played the Comfort Deer after press time Tuesday. Blanco continues district play Friday with a trip to Brady.
