Unemployment Rate Remains Steady Locally

Blanco County’s unemployment rate remained steady for November; the Texas Workforce Commission announced last week. 

The county’s unemployment was 2.9 percent in November, the same as it was in October. 

The unemployment rate for the nine-county Rural Capital Area of Central Texas region also remained steady at 3.6 percent from October to November. This means that 3.6 percent of the workforce in the Rural Capital Area region were actively seeking employment, totaling 24,999 residents. Additionally, there were more than 18,336 job openings available online at TWC across various industries. 

Since November 2023, the local labor force has grown by 18,172 residents, with 13,647 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In November, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:

- Blanco County: 2.9 per cent (remained steady at 2.9 percent in October)

- Burnet County: 3.2 per cent (remained steady at 3.2 percent in October)

- Hays County: 3.5 percent (remained steady at 3.5 percent in October)

- Fayette County: 3.5 per cent (remained steady at 3.5 percent in October)

- Lee County: 3.5 percent (remained steady at 3.5 percent in October)

- Bastrop County: 3.6 percent (remained steady at 3.6 percent in October)

- Williamson County: 3.7 percent (remained steady at 3.7 percent in October)

- Llano County: 3.7 per cent (up from 3.6 percent in October)

- Caldwell County: 3.9 percent (up from 3.8 percent in October) 

In comparison to the statewide unemployment rate, which increased to 4.2 percent in November, the region’s unemployment figures remained lower. Similarly, the national unemployment rate rose to 4 percent.
