City Council Approves Water Volume Test to Determine Dredging

By Wayne DeCesaris City council met at City Hall, Monday Oct 21, 2024, with a limited agenda.

Public comments included Bob Pfeil representing the Llano Gun Club thanking County Commissioner Jerry Don Moss for delivering 22 loads of dirt to the shooting range and Josh Becker from the City Streets Department for quickly dispersing the dirt at the range.

In City business, the Master Fee Schedule was updated to correct the Hangar rates at the airport. Don Comedy was elected to the Llano Economic Development Corporation board and council approved to remove “term limits” for the Historic Preservation Board due to difficulty in getting people to serve. Council also approved $20,000 for LCRA to perform a Bathymetric survey to estimate the volume of water held in the cities 2 dams. This as a ‘first step’ to determine if the river should be dredged.

In an interesting turn of events, a resident in the 2000 Block of Lechter St had previously requested maintenance on her street during the October 7th council meeting. The request was initially denied as the street was not officially ‘opened’; city staff explained they are not responsible for maintaining any unopened streets. The item was tabled when Alderman Tudyk suggested that when the City placed utilities in the street it represented a defacto ‘opening’ of the street. In the 2 weeks since the Oct. 7th meeting, staff contacted the City attorney who agreed with Tudyk and reported the street will now qualify for City maintenance.

The next council meeting will be Monday November 4th at 5:30 pm.
