The Llano Junior High Cross Country season ended on Monday, October 7, at the District 5-3A XC meet in Comfort. Your Lady Jackets swept the girls divisions, and the boys fought hard to be district runner-up. This large JH group of 39 runners worked hard all season to continue the Jacket Cross Country legacy, and only had championships on their minds.
The 8th grade boys team finished strong as the District Runner-Up. They had to overcome several injuries this season. The Llano boys team included Braizen Landtroop (7th), Ryelan Mikulenka (10th), Jerimiah Vanpelt (11th), Ben Rogers (12th), Raul Lopez (16th), Everett Long, and Trent Tibbs.
Not only did the 7th grade girls WIN the district meet, but 8 of the top 10 runners were LLANO LADY JACKETS. Leading off for the 7th grade girls were District Champion Reagan Baker (1st), Harper Kuykendall (2nd), Sophie Jordan (3rd), Grady Patrick (4th), and Reagan Rode (7th). The 7th Grade Girls were excited to celebrate the BIG WIN with all 20 team members that also included Carlie Bartlett, Martha Campos (8th), Jayden Daughtry (10th), Liliana Fleming, Madilyn Fleming, Zoe Fry, Serenity Harlin, Hadley Harris, Camry Kendrick, Rhyann Long, Brinleigh Merritt, Wrenn Moore, Evelyn Morales, Amy Segura (9th), and Emily Valdez.
The 8th grade girls won the District Championship AGAIN just like they have done the past 4 years!! The top 5 8th grade girls were Kenzlee Hamm (2nd), Quinn Pool (4th), Christy Clarke (6th), Emmilyee Roberson (8th), and Gracyn Sanchez (10th). Other valuable 8th grade girls team members included Alex Arredondo, Nataly Caballero, Sarah Cagle, Ava Guido, Averie Jackson, Arielle Perez, and Genesis Zagada.
Our Llano Junior High Cross Country team had an outstanding 2024 season! With hard work and determination, our athletes pushed through every challenge, achieving personal records and showing incredible team spirit. From strong finishes to unforgettable races, it’s been a season of growth, grit, and success. We’re proud of all runners for their dedication and heart! Let’s keep filling the bus up with runners and bringing home District hardware!!!
